Just lifting the hood is no help. It appears the wires and plugs are covered up somehow. Please assist if you can. I want to avoid taking it to a dealership if I can.Changing spark plugs on a 99 Cad Catera? The spark plugs are located under the upper plenum on this vehicle. When you open the hood there is a large plastic cover to be removed, the upper plenum is an aluminum item typically attached by 10 to 12 bolts. Once the plenum is removed you will have access to the spark plugs. The spark plugs are platinum and expensive. It is typical to only have to replace them after 100,000 miles. If you have less you may be able to have the Fuel(induction)system service that will remove the carbon build up. Not to sound degrading but I would leave it to a professional mechanic on this ride.Changing spark plugs on a 99 Cad Catera?Rh side:Relieve the fuel system pressure.Disconnect the fuel supply and return hoses from the intake manifold.Move heater hoses. Unplug electrical connection @ coil pack.Remove the coil pack retainer bolts. Remove Coil pack. Note: Gm uses a special tool in order to avoid damaging the coil pack. You can fabricate a similar device.Lh side more straight forward.Changing spark plugs on a 99 Cad Catera? You have to take the plastic cover off the engine.May also have to remove the upper intake plenum to reach some of them.Car is not very popular so I'm not sure if it is coil over plug or not.Hopefully a GM expert will chime in.Changing spark plugs on a 99 Cad Catera?look and see if you can pull the front tire and the lowwer part of the inner fender then you should be able to get to the spark plugs the is what i do to my truck 2003 frod you can bye the replacsement pins to put the inner fender back on cheapYounghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00620090702177370183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4824608033956742999.post-41126447506752255172011-10-25T05:01:00.000-07:002011-10-25T05:01:03.581-07:00Change spark plugs on a lincoln navigator 99'?I cant find where they are located. Do you have to change the spark plug tubes, too?Sometime the cyl head gasket leaks and the spark plugs become stuck in the Cyl head. If you run across one that only turns 1/4 turn and binds up watch out forcing the plug will break it off. After removing the coils. Spark plug seals on the plastic valve cover stay with the cover no tubes to deal with either. No special tools just be careful use NGK spark plugs designed for that motor. Not Bosch (wrong resistance) other brands Nippondenso has a good iridium plug that will work. And NGK exact replacement are the only ones to use. Look at how long the threaded section is it has to match up.Younghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00620090702177370183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4824608033956742999.post-40186932354932912572011-10-25T05:00:00.004-07:002011-10-25T05:00:36.415-07:00How do you change the spark plugs and wires on a 2000 lincoln ls V8?I would like to do this myself if I can. I dont know if it will be to much work. How do you change the spark plugs and wires on a 2000 lincoln ls V8?The Lincoln LS has a distirbutorless ignition system, it uses a coil on plug system. There is no distributor, each plug has its own ignition coil in its wire. I would not recommend replacing these unless needed as they are expensive and typically shouldnt be replaced untill they fail to function. The LS features Motorcraft Platinum plugs that are rated for 100,000 miles. So I wouldn't change those untill 100,000 miles. If you are at 100,000 miles or if your plugs for some reason do need to be replaced then I believe on the LS you have a plastic cover to remove off the top of the engine and then the plugs and coils if I remember right are actually located under the fuel rail so you will have to depressurize the fuel rail by depressing the schrader valve. Then you can safely remove the fuel rail and access the plugs and coils. How do you change the spark plugs and wires on a 2000 lincoln ls V8?you'll need a socket set, with another set of extenders and some u-joint looking things to allow the spark plug socket to fit in there. you probably already have a socket set. the extensions and u-joint thing will probably cost about $15 tops. i had to use them on my jeep grand cherokee. How do you change the spark plugs and wires on a 2000 lincoln ls V8?Stlbluesrams34 is on the right track. the LS with the v8 engine does not have a distributor or plug wires. It has a coil mounted individually above each plug. The platinum plugs will last a long time, but if yours is a high mileage car (75,000 or more) and needs it, you could do this job yourself. On top of each valve cover is a small cover plate held on with a few 8mm head bolts. You will have to remove some things to get enough access to them (especially on the drivers side). But you won't have to bother any fuel lines on the v8 engine. One 8mm head bolt holds down each coil. Loosen it and unplug the coil and remove it. It's a pain to get to some of them but be patient and you can do it. Don't forget since this engine has aluminum heads, be sure to do this job with the engine cold and use a little anti-seize on the new plug threads.Younghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00620090702177370183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4824608033956742999.post-28748827030209509562011-10-25T05:00:00.003-07:002011-10-25T05:00:27.967-07:00I have a 2002 Isuzu Rodeo Sport and I need to change the spark plugs...do I have plug wires too? When I called to price parts they asked if I had a coil ignition. The oil is either from the DI cassette (is it cracked?) or the valve cover seals. If the valve cover seals are leaking you need to have them replaced. If the DI cassettes are leaking, you need to replace those. But changing the plugs is very easy. Remove the DI cassettes, and then use a deep-drive spark plug socket to remove the plugs. ONLY use the NGK plugs specified in your Owner's Manual. ANY OTHER plug will make your engine run like crap. Trust me, please. Put the new plugs in being sure they are threading correctly. The heads are aluminum on this engine so you can easily strip the threads. Good luck! How do you change spark plugs on '99 saab 95 v6?I don't want to offend you.
