I would imagine you have a transverse mounted V6, with 3 spark plugs on the front of the engine and 3 on the back. Just follow the plug wires to each spark plug, pull the wire off the top of the plug. Slide your socket down over the plug and remove it the same way you would remove a bolt. After checking the new plug for the correct gap, insert it into the hole (use your fingers at first to prevent cross-threading) and tighten it with the socket. Do them one at a time to prevent connecting your wires to the wrong plug.
The back ones will be trickier to get to, and you may end up taking it to a shop where someone with the right tools can do the job faster and easier than you can.

I have an 86 Toyota camry.. i want to change the plugs but want to do it correctly.. are there different plugs for different cars or are they universal? You can go to any auto parts store and they will look at your car and tell you what kind you will need. To change them it is fairly easy. You will require some tools, like a ratchet and a 5/8 deep socket, also you will need a spark plug gauge to adjust the gap on the tip of each new plug.
You also need to inspect the wires to make sure they are not cracked or frayed. I would recommend doing on plug at a time that way you will not cross wires, cause then you will make your vehicle backfire.

I prefer the torque wrench because then it is typically much more accurate. If i installed new spark plugs incorrectly, will it change the fuel effecincy?
I just changed the spark plugs myself and i noticed my car is burning more gas than it used to. If they aren't tight enough or the threads are stripped, it can cause a leak and loss of compression.
